Never take yourself too seriously!

Never take yourself too seriously!

Thank goodness the powers above blessed me with a good sense of humor – more exactly a wacky sense of humor. Even as a child I never had the good sense to know when I shouldn’t have been giggling, a habit that oftimes got me into trouble along with reprimands and dirty looks. Later on in life, I learned that my father admitted to having a similar problem in his younger days, so perhaps it’s in the DNA. I have never been the kind of person to intentionally hurt another persons feelings with my giggling. This past mother’s day weekend, my twin grandbabies were christened and their 2 big sisters had their first dance recital; my son (godfather to one) flew in from Chicago for the occasion. I guess the DNA thing must move through the generations, as he wished me a Happy Mother’s Day and kindly presented me with the mug you see in the picture! I couldn’t help but laugh – yes, to the point of having tears in my eyes! Did I forget to say that it hurts a fractured shoulder when you laugh really, really hard??? I do wonder though, if years in the future, will I have to explain my lack of physical ‘grace’ every time someone notices this mug? Maybe I will have to hide it! 🙂 All in all, I do think life is much better when we can find some humor in our daily lives. Personally I think our world could use more giggling!

New wool felt colors from National Nonwovens ‘Zenergy’

My second big laugh of the week came as I received a package from National Nonwovens. I am one of their ‘pattern partners’ and they are a wonderful company to be associated with. They have a wide variety of high quality wool felt available and are very supportive of their pattern partners, sending us sample felt and new colors, etc. as well as showcasing models and samples at their booth during Quilt Market. Visit their website to see the felt available as well as the list of Pattern Partners. Back to the package (after some difficulty getting it open with one hand) which had samples of their latest collection entitled ‘Zenergy’: this is a beautiful collection of colors – all of which excited my creative juices. However, while the ‘juices’ may flow, it appears that I am several weeks away from being able to cut, stitch, sew, iron, and plan – at least with any finesse! Suddenly, my funny bone ‘tickled’ and I just had to laugh at the irony of receiving these samples almost the same week as I fractured my shoulder. Someone is teasing me!! Patience is not my prime virtue; the felt will have to wait. But I do encourage you to check out their new colors. (Giggle if they make you feel happy!)
