Art Nouveau Table Mats
Reminiscent of the beautiful and modern Art Nouveau and Craftsman designs from the late 1800’s into the early 210th century, both the large (21′ X 16″) and the small (11″ square) table mats feature flowing, repetitive decorative lines of chain stitching. While the photo models are unique in that they are made with a ‘limited’ palette of two colors and two decorative threads, there are other photos that I have included that might inspire you to try your own colorway! (Please note the pattern is written only for the colorway versions shown on the pattern cover.) You will need only 3 stitches – the chain stitch, the blanket stitch, and a straight stitch. Along with the unique scallop blanket stitching along the edge, you will also have a chance to embellish with beads and crystals as much or as little as you choose. Of course you always have the option of choosing a plain blanket stitch for the edges. This is not a ‘quick’ pattern, but when finished it will add the grace and beauty of Art Nouveau to your decor!
