Blooms In Blue

vibrant dimensional blooms around a 14" table mat designed in woven felted wools

What a treat Mother Nature gave us when she decided there should be blue flowers! I adore any blue flower. So I just had to create some brilliant blue flowers! While this 14′ square table mat appears similar to the Daisy Garden pattern, there are several differences including split color leaves, layered flowers with ‘loose-edged’ centers that provide dimension, a reversal of the middle and back layers, and the use of scalloped blanket stitches. The use of Japanese seed beads on the edges adds a bit of sparkle and creates a look reminiscent of a lacy doily. Never worked with beads? Be fearless! These sz.8 beads have larger holes – holes big enough for an embroidery/redwork needle and sz. 12 pearl cotton to pass through! Smaller sz. 11 beads accent the scalloped blanket stitching around the top square and the flower stamens. The pattern includes clear diagrams and instructions that guide you through bead selection and usage. Of course you can choose to forego the beads and simply finish all the edges with a simple blanket stitch. Blue not your color? This table mat is waiting for you to make your blooms any color you choose!
