Daisy Garden
It was a long winter here in Minnesota and I couldn’t resist dreaming about a much anticipated spring and all the lovely spring and summer flowers that brighten the days. And who doesn’t love daisies?? This 15″ square table mat features fresh white daisies all around – along with soft maize colored button accents. Bright spring green leaves along with whimsical ‘curliques’ add interest to the simplicity of the daisies. The real stand out here is the beaded edgings which give the entire mat a feeling reminiscent of a lacy doily. Never worked with beads? Be fearless! These are Japanese glass seed beads in a size 8 with larger holes – holes big enough for an embroidery/redwork needle and sz. 12 pearl cotton to pass through! The pattern includes clear diagrams and instructions that guide you through bead selection and usage. Of course you can choose to forego the beads and finish all the edges with a simple blanket stitch. While the sample models are done in light denim blue (wool felt blends) and a bright rose pink (felted woven wool), this pattern makes it easy to substitute your own favorite colors – for the background OR for the daisies. Make your own garden of daisies that will last all spring and summer!
