Waterlily
What is more exquisite than the beautiful waterlily flower that sits atop a field of rich green lily pads floating in summer’s cool waters. Each one is different – pinks, whites, yellows – along with wonderful center buds…and of course the occasional frogs and flying insects that share the neighborhood! This 10″ x 10″ table mat or ‘mug rug’ is meant to capture that beauty. The real star here is the 3 dimensional waterlily flower; it’s petals are edged with seed beads which, along with the clear seed beads scattered on the lilypads, remind us of the sparkling drops of water that glimmer in the sunlight. Of course if beading just isn’t your thing, you can opt for plain blanket stitching. But would it help to know that all the beading can be done with the same needle and thread that is recommended for the applique? And there are tutorial videos at DesignAndBeMary YouTube to help with visual learning. And if you are in a hurry, you can actually make this with out the 3 dimensional flower! This also makes a great little wall or framed piece as well. It’s a little piece of cool tranquility!
